Voice includes conference bridges that let multiple participants join the same call. A bridge has a dial-in number and an optional PIN. Participants call in from any phone and are dropped into the conference. Admins can view who is on the call, mute individuals, and remove participants.
Creating a Conference Bridge
Conference bridges are created by admins and remain available as a persistent resource — anyone with the dial-in details can use the bridge at any time.
- Go to Conference Bridges in the admin panel and click Create Bridge.
- Give the bridge a name (e.g., "Weekly All-Hands" or "Support Bridge").
- Optionally set a PIN that participants must enter after dialing in. Leave blank for an open bridge.
- Save.
After saving, the bridge displays its dial-in number and extension. Share these details with participants.
Joining a Conference
Participants join by dialing the bridge's number or extension:
- By phone number — Participants dial the full number from any phone. If a PIN is set, they enter it when prompted.
- By extension — Users within your organization can dial the bridge's internal extension from the web app or desk phone.
- From the web app — Dial the bridge extension from the dialpad or start the call from the Conference Bridges list view.
There is no upper limit documented per bridge, but practical limits depend on your plan and infrastructure.
Managing Participants During a Call
While a conference is active, the bridge's detail view shows a live participant list:
- Mute a participant — Click the mute icon next to a participant's name. That participant can no longer speak, but they can still hear the call. They can also mute themselves from their own device.
- Remove a participant — Click the remove/kick icon to disconnect a specific participant from the bridge. They are dropped from the call immediately.
- View participant details — The list shows each participant's number and connection time.
Starting a Conference from an Active Call
If you are already on a call and want to add a third party:
- Place the current caller on hold (see Hold and Transfer).
- Dial the conference bridge extension.
- Transfer the held caller into the conference or ask them to dial in separately.
Voice does not have a dedicated "add-to-conference" merge button in the call controls — use the bridge-and-dial-in approach to bring multiple parties together.
Ending a Conference
A conference ends when all participants hang up. Admins can also remove all participants at once from the bridge management view if needed.
The bridge itself is not deleted when the conference ends — it stays configured for future use.
FAQ
Do participants need to be users in my organization? No. Anyone can dial into a conference bridge from any phone. External callers simply dial the bridge number and enter the PIN if required.
Can I record a conference call? Yes, if recording is enabled. Recording behavior follows the extension that initiated or manages the call. See Call Recording for setup.
Can I host video meetings? Voice includes video meeting rooms through LiveKit. This is separate from audio conference bridges. Video meetings are accessed from the Video section of the admin panel.
