Availability: Migrate isn't offered for purchase or activation at launch. It's coming later. This page explains how Migrate works so you can plan client moves ahead of time. There's no Migrate pricing yet. To hear when it's available, submit a request.
Migrate is The One Stack's cloud migration and on-prem archival product. It streams files and mailboxes from a source system to a destination using the Migrate module of The One Agent — installed once per device and enabled per device — with Cloudflare R2 as zero-egress staging in between. It is built for MSP technicians managing client data moves — on-prem to cloud, or local archival. A cloud-to-cloud move is not available yet: a job whose source and destination are both cloud connectors is refused at creation with 422 server_execution_coming_soon.
Who Uses Migrate
MSP technicians and admins use Migrate to plan and execute client data migrations. Owners and admins configure billing, team members, and settings. Technicians create and run jobs and view reports. Viewers have read-only access.
What Migrate Does
Migrate handles the full lifecycle of a data migration project:
- Organizing work into clients, projects, and jobs
- Installing agents on customer machines to stream data
- Tracking progress batch-by-batch in real time
- Storing credentials encrypted at rest and delivering them securely to agents
- Staging data through Cloudflare R2 to avoid egress fees
- Generating reports and exporting them as CSV
- Computing per-GB usage hourly (not yet billed)
Supported Source Systems
File sources: local drive, SMB share, NFS share, OneDrive, SharePoint, Google Drive, Google Workspace Drive, Dropbox, Box, Egnyte.
Mailbox sources: Gmail, Google Workspace Mail, Exchange Online, Exchange on-prem, PST files, local Outlook, IMAP.
Supported Destination Systems
Cloudflare R2, Azure Blob Storage, OneDrive, SharePoint, Exchange Online, SMB share. Google Workspace Mail and Google Drive are supported sources only — Migrate refuses either as a destination at job creation with 422 destination_engine_not_implemented (see the correction note above).
Job Types
Each job has a type that determines what the agent does:
| Job Type | What It Does |
|---|---|
migrate_files |
One-time file transfer from source to destination |
migrate_mailbox |
Mailbox migration |
archive |
Moves data to destination storage; optionally deletes from source |
sync |
Same file transfer as migrate_files, resuming from the job's saved checkpoint |
discovery_scan |
Catalogued as a read-only inventory, but nothing runs it — the agent refuses the type (see the correction note above) |
validation |
Catalogued as a read-only integrity check, but nothing runs it — the same refusal (see the correction note above) |
Only valid source-destination-job-type combinations are accepted. Invalid pairings are rejected at job creation.
FAQ
Does Migrate cost extra to move large datasets? Cloudflare R2 is used as the staging layer because it has zero egress fees, so staging doesn't add egress costs. Migrate isn't sold at launch, so there's no Migrate pricing or billing yet. Migrate does measure the volume each job moves (you'll see it in job progress and reports). Treat that figure as a record of what moved, not as a charge.
Can I use Migrate for ongoing sync, not just one-time moves?
Not as an automatic recurring sync — no second pass is ever scheduled for any Migrate job. Job type sync runs the same enumerate-and-transfer as migrate_files. What carries between runs is the job's saved checkpoint: when you Re-run a job, items already transferred are skipped and the items that failed are retried. A file changed at the source after it was transferred is not re-transferred, because the checkpoint records it as done. A job can also be scoped when it is created with a source filter — newer_than, older_than, max_age_days, file_types — which narrows what a run enumerates.
What roles can use Migrate? Owner and admin have full access. Technicians can create and run jobs and view reports. Viewers are read-only. Technicians cannot manage team members, billing, or settings.
