A client's CyberAssurance Score comes from a posture assessment: you run discovery to gather findings, then recompute the score to grade them across eight pillars. This article covers running discovery (including the questionnaire), recomputing the score, and reading the pillar breakdown.
Availability: CyberAssure features, including discovery and posture scoring, may be limited or not yet available in your environment. Treat a score as a guide, not a complete assessment of a client. If what you see doesn't match this article, submit a ticket.
Opening a Client's Posture
From the Portfolio, click View Details on a client (or Open under "Awaiting First Assessment"). The client detail page is split into:
- Left — the CyberAssurance Score and pillar breakdown.
- Right — the Risk Register summary and Recovery health.
If the client has no score yet, the left panel shows "No score yet" with a two-step prompt: Run Discovery to gather findings, then Recompute Score to grade them.
Running Discovery
- On the client detail page, click Run Discovery.
- Discovery collects findings about the client's environment. If it needs information it cannot detect automatically, it returns a Discovery Questionnaire (status
awaiting_answers). - Answer the questionnaire questions and submit. Discovery completes using your answers plus the automatically-gathered findings.
Discovery can be re-run at any time to refresh the findings — for example after you have remediated a gap.
Recomputing the Score
After discovery has findings, click Recompute Score. CyberAssure grades the findings across the eight pillars and updates the total. The score and the "computed at" timestamp refresh in place.
The Eight Pillars
The CyberAssurance Score is the sum of eight pillars, each worth up to 125 points (1000 total). The pillar bar on the client detail page shows each pillar's contribution so you can see exactly where the points are being lost. A low pillar is your remediation target — fix the underlying gap, re-run discovery, and recompute to see the score move.
Reading the Score
The total is shown on the 0–1000 scale with its banding:
| Banding | Score range | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Good | 750 – 1000 | Posture is solid; maintain |
| Fair | 500 – 749 | Gaps exist; review pillars for remediation priorities |
| At Risk | 0 – 499 | Material exposure; prioritise this client |
FAQ
Discovery returned "awaiting answers" — did it fail? No. That status means discovery needs input it cannot detect on its own. Fill in the questionnaire and submit; discovery then completes.
Do I have to recompute every time? Recompute after discovery gathers new findings, or after you have added or closed risks in the register. The score does not recompute itself.
Where does the risk register fit in? Open risks reduce the relevant pillar scores. Closing or mitigating risks and recomputing improves the posture. See Risk Register.
