Overview
The portal records the notification choices you make — which categories you want, and by which channels — for the things you care about, such as a technician responding to your ticket, a backup failing, or a new invoice arriving. Nothing reads those choices yet to decide what gets sent: your IT provider controls what you actually receive, and this page keeps your stated preference ready for when sending is switched on. It also records your consent for text-message (SMS) notifications, which the portal does not send yet — your notification choices and your text-message consent are saved here.
Accessing Notification Preferences
- Click Account in the sidebar (or your name/avatar in the top corner).
- Select Notification Preferences or scroll to the Notifications section of your account settings.
Notification Categories
Notifications are organized by category. For each category you can record whether you want email, in the portal, or both. These choices are saved to your account but are not used yet to decide what gets sent — your IT provider controls that for now. The categories are:
- Support Tickets — when a technician replies, changes the status, or closes a ticket you submitted
- Billing and Invoices — when a new invoice is generated or a payment is confirmed
- Security Alerts — when a dark web alert is detected or a security item needs your attention
- Backup Status — when a backup job completes with a Warning or Failed status
- Project Updates — when your IT provider updates a project they're working on for you
- System Notifications — platform-level messages from your IT provider (maintenance windows, important announcements)
Email Notifications
Email that reaches you goes to the address on your account, and your IT provider's own notification settings decide whether it is sent. Toggle the Email switch on or off for each category to record your stated preference.
Turning the Email switch off saves your choice but does not stop the email on its own. If your inbox is too full, contact your IT provider and tell them which categories you want to keep by email (such as Security Alerts or Backup Status) and which you would rather not receive (such as Project Updates) — they control what is sent.
Portal Notifications
Portal notifications appear in the notification bell icon at the top of the portal. Toggle the Portal switch for each category to record your stated preference.
Your IT provider decides what is sent, so turning a Portal switch off does not remove anything from the portal yet — and turning it on does not add anything to it.
SMS Notifications
The portal records your consent for text-message notifications, but it does not send text messages today.
To record your consent:
- In the Notifications section, scroll to SMS Notifications.
- Enter your mobile phone number.
- Check the consent checkbox to confirm you agree to receive text messages.
- Click Save SMS settings.
Your consent is saved to your contact record so your IT provider can see your stated choice. It does not yet control whether a message is sent.
If the portal ever texts you, reply STOP to that message to opt out. STOP is the opt-out the platform enforces today — unchecking the consent box records your choice, but on its own it does not stop a message.
Important: The consent checkbox records your stated choice; it does not control delivery. Portal text messages are not being sent today. If you receive a text claiming to be about your portal account and you are not expecting it, check with your IT provider before acting on it.
Saving Your Preferences
After making any changes to your notification settings, click Save. Your choices are saved to your account immediately — but because nothing reads them yet, saving does not change what gets sent. To change what you actually receive, contact your IT provider.
Frequently Asked Questions
I'm getting too many emails. How do I reduce them?
The switches on Account → Notification Preferences do not control delivery yet, so turning Email off there will not reduce your inbox on its own. Contact your IT provider and tell them which categories you want to keep — they decide what is sent.
I turned off all notifications and now I'm missing important alerts.
A switch on this page cannot silence an alert today, so turning notifications off here is not what would make you miss one — and turning them on is not what makes one arrive. Tell your IT provider which alerts are critical for you; they decide what is sent.
I stopped receiving notifications even though they're turned on.
The switches on this page do not control delivery, so seeing them on is not a promise that anything is being sent. Check with your IT provider about what they send and where it goes; if they do email you, add their sending address to your contacts so it does not land in spam.
Can my IT provider force certain notifications to be on?
Yes. Your IT provider decides what is sent, and may send some critical alerts (such as security incidents) regardless of what is recorded here. This is for your protection.
Can I have notifications sent to a different email address?
There is no separate notification address: anything emailed to you goes to the address on your portal account, which your IT provider holds. To change it, contact your provider — see the Account Settings article.
