Overview
The Client Portal supports password sign-in and, where your organization has it enabled, Microsoft sign-in. This article covers how to sign in, what to expect from your session, and how to sign out.
Finding the Portal
Your IT provider will give you the portal address when they set up your access. It may look like:
- A custom URL your provider set up, such as
support.yourcompany.com - The default portal address at
app.theonestack.com/portal
Bookmark it — you'll return here every time you sign in.
Signing In With Email and Password
- Go to your portal URL.
- Enter your email address and password.
- Click Sign In.
- If your account has MFA enabled, you'll be prompted for a code from your authenticator app after entering your password.
If you enter your password incorrectly too many times, your account will be temporarily locked for 15 minutes. After the lockout expires, try again. If you've forgotten your password, see the Forgot Password section below.
Signing In With Microsoft
If your IT provider has enabled Microsoft sign-in for your organization, you'll see a Continue with Microsoft button on the sign-in page.
- Click Continue with Microsoft.
- You'll be redirected to the Microsoft sign-in page. Sign in with your Microsoft work account.
- If it's your first time, Microsoft may ask you to approve the portal's access — click Accept.
- You'll be brought back to the portal and signed in automatically.
Microsoft sign-in uses your organization's existing Microsoft 365 credentials, so you don't need a separate portal password if you use this method.
Forgot Your Password
If you can't remember your password:
- Go to the portal sign-in page and click Forgot password.
- Enter your email address and click Send Reset Email.
- Check your inbox for the reset email — the link inside is valid for 1 hour.
- Click the link, enter your new password (at least 10 characters, with uppercase, lowercase, and a number), and save.
After a password reset, all other active sessions are signed out for your security.
Session Behavior
Portal sessions last 8 hours. About 5 minutes before your session expires, the portal will show a "Stay signed in?" prompt. Click it to extend your session without signing in again. If you don't respond or close the tab, you'll be signed out automatically.
Sessions are tied to your browser. Signing in on your phone and your computer at the same time is fine — they're separate sessions.
Signing Out
To sign out manually:
- Click your name or avatar in the top-right corner of the portal.
- Select Sign Out.
Your session is immediately ended. If you're on a shared computer, always sign out when you're done.
Frequently Asked Questions
My account is locked. How long do I have to wait?
After too many failed password attempts, your account locks for 15 minutes. Wait it out, then try again. If you're still locked or believe someone tried to access your account, contact your IT provider.
The Microsoft sign-in button isn't showing up for me.
Microsoft sign-in must be enabled by your IT provider. If you don't see the option, your organization is using password-only sign-in. Ask your provider if they can enable it.
I'm being asked to sign in again even though I just signed in.
Your session may have expired (sessions last 8 hours), or your browser is blocking the portal's cookie. Make sure cookies are allowed for the portal's domain. Try an Incognito or Private window to test.
Can I stay signed in permanently?
Sessions are limited to 8 hours for security. Use the "Stay signed in?" prompt before it expires to refresh your session without re-entering credentials.
