Overview
The board view displays a project's tasks as cards organized into columns by status or workflow stage. It gives project managers and technicians a visual snapshot of where every task stands. You can move tasks between stages by dragging cards, and you can configure which columns appear based on your project's engine.
Open the Board View
- Open a project.
- Click Board in the view switcher at the top of the page.
Each column represents one workflow stage. The columns available depend on the engine you chose when creating the project (MSP, Agency, Construction, etc.).
Move a Card
Drag a task card from one column to another. The task's status updates automatically when the card lands in the new column. If an automation is set up to trigger on status changes, it will fire at this point.
You can also update a task's status from inside the task detail panel by changing the Status field.
Add a Task from the Board
- Click Add Task at the bottom of any column.
- Enter the task title.
- Fill in additional fields and click Save.
The task is created with the status corresponding to the column where you clicked.
Reorder Cards Within a Column
Drag cards up or down within a column to set their priority order. The order is saved and reflected in list view as well.
Filter and Group
Use the toolbar above the board to:
- Filter — show only tasks assigned to a specific person, with a specific tag, or within a due date range.
- Group by — switch grouping from status to assignee, priority, or custom field value. This changes the column layout.
- Search — search task titles in real time.
Save a View
If you want to keep a specific filter or grouping configuration:
- Set up the filters and grouping you want.
- Click Save View.
- Name the view and click Save.
Saved views appear in the view picker and can be set as the default view for the project.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I add custom columns?
Columns reflect the workflow stages defined by the project's engine. You can customize engine stages under Settings > Engines if you have the appropriate permissions.
What is a saved view?
A saved view stores your current filter, sort, and group configuration so you can return to it without reconfiguring. Each project can have multiple saved views, and you can designate one as the default.
Do automations fire when I drag a card?
Yes. Moving a card changes the task's status, which can trigger any automation that uses a status-change trigger. Check the project's automation runs log if you expect an action to have fired.
