Overview
The client portal your customers log into can be fully branded as your MSP — your name, logo, colors, welcome message, and even your own domain (for example portal.yourbrand.com). This article is for MSP staff configuring the portal. Customers never see "The One Stack" branding when this is set up.
Where to Configure It
Open Settings → Client Portal. This page has a row of section tabs and a Default config | Per-client override model at the top:
- Default — the branding every client sees unless overridden.
- Per-client override — pick a managed client to give that one client its own branding (handy when you resell under multiple brands or co-brand with a customer).
The two fully working sections are Branding and Custom Domain. (Other section tabs — Modules, Forms, Out-of-Box, Self-Service, Access, Ticket Visibility, Notifications, Knowledge Base, Legal — are being built out.)
Branding
On the Branding tab, set:
- Company name — your MSP name (e.g. "Acme IT Support"), shown on the portal and login screen.
- Tagline — a short line under the logo on the login screen.
- Welcome message — greeting shown to customers when they land in the portal.
- Logo URL and Favicon URL — your logo and browser-tab icon.
- Primary color and Accent color — your brand palette (defaults are neutral until you set them).
- Support email and Support phone — your contact details, shown to customers.
Save to apply. The org-wide default requires the core fields (company name, logo, primary, accent); a per-client override only needs the fields you want to change — anything you leave matching the default keeps inheriting it. This branding is the canonical source the public portal and portal emails read from.
Note: there is also a top-level Settings → Branding & Logo entry that hands off to The One Brand (app.theonestack.com/brand) for organization-wide brand assets. For the client portal specifically, use Settings → Client Portal → Branding as described here.
Custom Domain (Your Own URL)
By default the portal is served on a One Stack hostname. To serve it on your own domain:
- Go to Settings → Client Portal → Custom Domain.
- Click Add domain and enter a hostname you control (for example
portal.yourbrand.com). - Publish the CNAME record shown — point your hostname at
app.theonestack.com. If an ownership-verification record (a TXT record) is shown, publish that too. - Back on the domain row, click Verify. Once DNS resolves, the platform provisions a managed TLS certificate automatically — you don't upload a cert.
- When the SSL status shows active, your portal is live on your domain.
You can remove a domain at any time (the portal stops serving on it) and add more than one.
Per-Client (Reseller) Branding
To brand the portal differently for one client:
- On the Client Portal settings page, switch from Default to a specific managed client using the client picker.
- Edit the Branding (and, if needed, domain) for that client.
- Save — this creates a client-specific override. Other clients keep the default.
Troubleshooting
My domain won't verify. DNS can take time to propagate. Confirm the CNAME points at app.theonestack.com (and the TXT ownership record matches exactly), then click Verify again. TLS provisions only after verification succeeds.
Colors/logo didn't change for a client. Check whether you're editing the Default or a per-client override — and remember a per-client override only changes the fields you actually set.
Customers still see generic branding. Make sure the org default branding has the core fields filled and saved; empty fields fall back to platform defaults.
